Description
I live now as a Carolina Girl. Sandwiched between Duke and UNC I flow from basketball conversation in light blue to conversation in dark blue. But I come from conversation in royal blue. Scratch beneath the surface of the Blue Devil-Tarheel and you will find the blood of a wildcat. Raised on the rolling hills of bluegrass. There is no space like Kentucky. If God, picked a summer home, is would be in central Kentucky where the animals of work become the animals of play; where the white fences grow across the asymmetrical hills like some form of native plant. I can smell it as I write.
Way outside my normal style, this piece comes from the rudimentary tools of old school. The pen, the ruler, the protractor...to capture the perfect lines of Midway, Kentucky, a tiny town, giant in my mind.
