They circled around the turtle, curious, protective, unlikely friends? Had they adopted this old man, teaching him the ways of goose? He was goose too. Tall proud, resting on the water surface...sort of.

Excellent photo. I am blessed to have two ponds in my apartment complex. those two ponds and a local canal host a nice flock of Canada Geese. They are always fun to watch.
