Description
She sat beneath the tree and watched me. She would circle as if admiring her own reflection. Such beauty, beneath the tree, only shared by herself and me. The, I saw her eggs, tucked away in a camouflage of green, feathers and straw. She only left for a moment, circling close to her nest. A mother still must eat. But the pull is already there. "Shall I protect them or me?" I could feel her thoughts as she ate quickly and circled back to the water's edge ...counting...one, two, three, four, five eggs. There all still there. Now...one more bite. I was quite delighted she was not in Canada.
